Safety & ESG

Built for Responsibility

Our Commitment to Exploration Drilling Safety

SCION Drilling is committed to exploration drilling safety, delivering field performance without compromising people, terrain, or compliance. As a result, our MSHA-certified crews implement zero-harm practices across every program from pad setup to final reporting.

Field Safety

Each shift begins with a pre-start safety briefing, where crews identify hazards, review JSA protocols, and ensure emergency gear is in place. In addition, we enforce a hands-off steel policy using hydraulic rod handlers and guarded control zones to prevent crush and strain injuries.

Because of this, SCION has maintained a zero lost-time incident record across multi-month programs in South Dakota, Nevada, and Wyoming.

ESG & Low-Impact Drilling Practices

We operate closed-loop fluid systems as standard, preventing sump discharge and minimizing ground contamination. Additionally, all fluid, fuel, and chemical systems are housed in bunded skids or tanks with secondary containment.

While many contractors rely on open pits or uncontained hoses, SCION takes a proactive approach to fluid management in sensitive environments.

Permit & ESG Compliance

Grouting drill hole to meet state ESG permitting compliance
Grouting at completion, ensuring site is sealed, logged, and compliant

Our programs are designed not just to meet performance expectations, but to align with ESG frameworks and permitting requirements. For this reason, we complete full site documentation, from PLOD to hole closure reports  including grouting for regulatory signoff.

Crews perform final inspections and demobilize with full waste retrieval and pad cleanup. This ensures every project is delivered responsibly from first shift to last hole.
